Here it is. My 4th Annual Super Bowl Half Time Show song leak. This one is from none other than Bob Dylan, who is replacing Beyonce who dropped out after her inauguration lip synching scandal.

“Running Out The Clock” is a previously unreleased song from Dylan’s 1983 “Infidels” album. I guess it makes sense… the football metaphors and references.

Wanted to share with you this true story:

Last night my wife and I went out for a small, nice New Year’s Eve dinner with some close friends. We had a great meal, and some good wine. It was a nice, adult evening and we were home in bed by 12:30! (not exactly and all nighter, haha)

I woke up this morning, a little hungover and hungry so I got out of bed and headed for my dresser to put on some sweatpants, a shirt and socks (I sleep in the nude.)

I opened the dresser drawer to find it empty! I opened another drawer… EMPTY as well! Where had my socks, shirts, pant and underwear gone? I turned to the closet and opened the door. EMPTY! Not even the hangers remained! Where were all my clothes?

I woke my wife in a panic and told her what was happening. She quickly became as confused and confounded as I was. We searched the house for any evidence of foul play, but found nothing. I grabbed a bath towel and tied it around my waist and walked around the outside of my house. No signs of forced entry. What had happened to all my clothes?

We traced our steps… We both remember clearly undressing the night before; me hanging my suit up in the closet and throwing my socks and underwear into the laundry basket, which now only claimed my wife’s dirty clothes.

I searched the house again looking for a stitch to wear. Nothing… even the odd sock under the couch… nope.

Merely toweled at the waist, I grabbed my car keys and headed out with my wife in search of something to wear. Holiday hours made my choices slim so we pulled into a Rite Aid. My wife ran in and picked up some sweatpants and a touristy looking T-Shirt. She threw the bag in the back seat and we drove home.

We pulled into our driveway and I reached back to grab the bag and felt immediate dread. The bag was empty! Under my breath I muttered “no, no, no, no…” and searched the floor of the car for the clothes. They were gone!

I ran into the house and opened up my laptop and began Googling “missing clothes… disappearing outfits… vanishing clothing…” it was a wild goose chase with no helpful links.

I called friends and family… most assumed I was playing some kind of practical joke.

By mid-afternoon it had sunk in. I was without a stitch aside from my bath towel. I tried putting on some of my wife’s looser fitting athletic wear but was immediately struck with extreme vertigo, dizziness and disorientation. I ripped the clothing off my back and began to sob.

Maybe I’m just meant to be nude this year. I don’t know. I wish I knew what was going on.

UPDATE: My belts showed up.

Hi friends.

Just wanted to take a moment and thank you all for your support this past year. It was a weird one! Lots (too much) promotion I know…

Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie finally stormed out of the gate way back in March. Eric and I ended up doing so many interviews I thought our heads would explode!

(thanks to @thatSLAYERchick for this compilation!)

As with just about everything we do, some critics loved it and some hated it. Well, we’re not for everyone, are we? I’m sure proud of it.

Also in March, the 2nd season of “Check it Out, with Dr. Steve Brule” aired! I hope we make more because I’ll tell you what, it’s the most fun thing to make!

Then a bunch of other junk happened, who cares…. WHO CARES….

oops, slipped into Brule.

2012 also brought a whole bunch of the “On Cinema!” podcast with frequent guest Gregg Turkington

My longterm goal is for this show to run for 20 years.

Did you hear I was also in a movie called The Comedy?

Another case of extreme polarization: again, some critics loved it and some hated it.

But I was really moved and thrilled to see how many of YOU supported it, liked it, were affected by it… and didn’t deride me for working outside of my comfort zone. It encourages me to continue to try new things and experiment. So, thanks.

Over the summer I got to do standup with Neil Hamburger, DJ Douggpound and K-Strass… as part of the FOUR CLOWNS AND A CROOK tour!

and also toured with Scott Aukerman, James Adomian and Kurt Braunohler and more on the Comedy Bang Bang Live Tour!

Eric and I also made our way to Australia (wrote “down unda” then deleted) and New Zealand!

We had the best time, met the nicest people on earth and promise to be back soon!

I also goofed around on Twitter A LOT, where I notably released Bob Dylan’s Titanic and was briefly the Editor-in-Chief of Rolling Stone Magazine among other nonsense, all of which can be found on this here blog.

And so what of 2013? Here’s a snapshot so far:

- Hopefully at least TWO new Tim and Eric TV projects (too early to give any real details here but expect and official update in March-ish)

- More Check It Out? Very Likely.

- More “On Cinema At the Cinema” (20 years worth)

- 4 new episodes of Tim and Gelman have Lunch! (Feb or March?)

- Heidecker & Wood’s new album “Some Things Never Stay The Same” (tentatively April)

AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE????!!!!!!

In closing: Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart for playing along and sticking around.

I write this from a cafe down the street from Rolling Stone Headquarters…

About 15 minutes ago I was escorted out of the building after being fired without explanation or reason although I can assume it had a lot to do with my public announcement of the TV Guide merger, which I guess is now off the table????

During my brief tenure as EIC of Rolling Stone I think I had a chance to do some really interesting things. I hope whoever replaces me takes my plan, considers my ideas and fully implements them. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

It’s way too early to tell you whats next for me as I’m still in total shock over this firing. Although I believe i was FIRED WITHOUT CAUSE I still want to thanks Jann and Time Warner for giving me the opportunity.

Last night I had the honor of speaking at the LA Food Bank Charity Event. I spoke about my plans for the Future of Rolling Stone. (also stay tuned for a surprise ending!)

Thank You Scott.

Good Evening Ladies and Gentleman and thanks for having me at this really wonderful and very funny event… I’ll tell ya - The LA Food bank is where I keep all my food. why just the other day I made a twenty-five pound deposit of corn and flour… just a little joke.

(pause for laughter)

Seriously, It’s a great cause and I’m really excited to be here with you tonight.

Two days ago I replaced Jann Wenner as editor-in-chief of Rolling Stone Magazine. I can only imagine that those familiar with my work in television and films were, shall we say surprised at the news. It’s a position that frankly I didn’t even see in my future, even though I’ve been a long time subscriber since the age of 13.

Let me speak briefly about where I see the magazine going under my stewardship. Its a plan that i outlined on my blog earlier this week and I think it’s pretty simple:

- I’d like to slightly revise our rating system for music - I believe we should add a star so there is the potential for a six star review (perhaps pays tribute to the “six string” guitar)

would like to introduce cartoons in the style of the New Yorker but with rock themes.
I will be writing a semi regular political editorial that will be from right side of the spectrum… to balance the left leaning tone of the magazine. I’ll also be encouraging politically active rockers like Meat Loaf and Ted Nugent to begin submitting pieces… I believe there is a real need for diversity in thought and I’m happy to provide that balance.
We will continue to create our wildly popular lists. These are great: Top 100 guitar players of all Time, etc… some new ones:
10 Dr John songs you might have missed
25 secrets Billy Joe Armstrong doesn’t want you to know
5 REM albums worth skipping
The 50 Songs Steely Dan SHOULD have written

return focus to the bands and artists that helped build Rolling Stone into the Icon that it is, with celebratory stories, covers and features on Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Eagles, Rolling Sones, The Beatles, Zeppelin, etc…

That’s my plan - as so many of you know the magazine industry is facing some very challenging times. The move to digital has been a necessary development and one I believe that Rolling Stone has been a leader in. And we will continue to expand and grow our online presence as well as our digital tablets.

But we still believe in print. Let me repeat that:

WE STILL BELIEVE IN PRINT !

That is why I’m excited to announce that I have begun negotiations to merge Rolling Stone with TV Guide.

Since 1953 TV Guide has been one of the most respected and popular entertainment magazines in the business. Their domination at the grocery counter and with home subscriptions has been a truly remarkable.

We think it’s a perfect match.

Now before I leave you I want to tell you about one more thing.

It’s my pleasure and honor as Editor-In-Chief to announce that Rolling Stone is presenting the LA Food Bank with a free one year membership to the print edition of the magazine which includes access to our tablet version.

Friends,

Today begins a new chapter for me and my family. It’s hard to imagine that this long time subscriber to one of the most influential and respected music & cultuer magazines is now it’s EDITOR-IN-CHIEF!!! Many have asked why!

- I love music as well as films and pop culture.

- Time Warner (the owners of the magazine) were looking to shake things up and bring in some new blood.

My vision for the magazine is to proudly continue the tradition that’s made Rolling Stone one of the most popular music & culture magazine in the history of magazine publishing. Our great team of writers and art directors will stay in place for the foreseeable future. A few changes I’d like to see take place though:

Many, many thanks to Jann Wenner for his assistance over the past few crazy weeks. I don’t think anyone can over estimate his role in the magazine and I know he will be staying on in an advisory role to help with the transition. I can’t imagine a scenario in which Jann’s input won’t be nessessary.

"THE COMEDY" IS NOW READY FOR YOU

Hey Friends*

As you probably know a film called The Comedy that I acted in is now available to watch on iTunes, Video on Demand, and other digital means - you know it if you got it. Here’s a few things to know/think about:

1. If you live in one of these cities go see this movie in The Movie Theater! Make a night of it! I’m telling you it’s a beautifully shot film and really deserves the big screen treatment. You can also request a screening in your city by going here

2. Go into watching this without any expectations about what you’re about to see! Yes, I’m in this movie with my friend and partner the great Eric Wareheim, but this is not a “Tim and Eric” movie and it’s not a comedy. I think there are plenty of funny moments but this is something else entirely. Also, I think it’s probably a good idea to stew on this movie after you’ve seen it - it’s not an easy movie and you might have some immediate reactions that I believe will change over the course of hours and days.

3. Don’t torrent it please. Relatively, this movie didn’t cost that much money to make but it still takes so, so, SO many individual purchases to make it back. If you choose to legally pay to see this movie you are making a statement that you want to see more movies like this — or at least more movies that are outside the bounds of traditional studio mush. If you like, you can wait until the price of the VOD rental comes down or when it comes to Netflix (a few months, I’d guess.) I think finally, the technology has made this decision an easy one.
